Joe Trippi, President, Joe Trippi & Associates One of the most widely recognized and influential strategists in American politics, Joe Trippi has been heralded on the cover of The New Republic as the man who “reinvented campaigning” and by The Atlantic as the “political innovator of the decade.” Known for his technology and media savvy, Trippi’s work in politics has spanned over four decades, five presidential campaigns, and numerous successful state and national elections. Most recently, Trippi has advised and produced television ads for John Edwards’ 2008 presidential campaign and Howard Dean’s 2004 bid, where he gained national acclaim for his innovative use of online technology to organize “Dean for America,” which became the largest grassroots movement in presidential politics.

Governor Matt Blunt, President, American Automotive Policy Council Governor Matt Blunt is the President of the American Automotive Policy Council and the former governor of Missouri. He was elected Missouri’s 54th governor in 2004, carrying 101 of the state’s 114 counties. As governor, he erased a $1.1 billion budget deficit, cut taxes, enacted lawsuit reform, fostered a business climate that created over 70,000 new jobs, and increased education funding by $1.2 billion. In announcing Governor Blunt as the new AAPC president, the three member companies, Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company and General Motors Company, cited his leadership of one of the U.S.’s top automobile and component producing states. Prior to his election as governor, Governor Blunt served in the Missouri House of Representatives and as Missouri’s Secretary of State. As Secretary of State, he reformed state election laws and used technology to increase customer convenience while also reducing costs. Governor Blunt graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in History. Upon leaving active duty in 1998, he remained in the Naval Reserve for nearly ten years and was mobilized for six months after the September 11, 2001 attacks. Governor Blunt and his wife Melanie have two sons, William Branch and Brooks.

She previously led digital strategy in positions at DCI Group, the Rudy Giuliani for President campaign and the Republican National Committee. Katie holds a BA in journalism and political science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Anders Jones, Business Development, Rapleaf Anders Jones manages business development at Rapleaf, where he administers strategic partnerships and new business initiatives for the company. Prior to joining Rapleaf, Anders was a co-founder of International Asset Services, a development-focused venture fund based in the Caribbean (sold in 2008). He also founded Teens for Technology, a 501-c-3 NGO that works with communities in developing nations to put computers and IT in schools. Anders holds a B.A. in International Relations from Stanford University, and is a contributing author to How To Change the World Before You Are 20.
Andrew Roos, Account Executive, GoogleAndrew Roos is currently the Account Executive for the Elections and Issue Advocacy team at Google, where he works with campaigns and political organizations around the country to maximize the impact of their advertising dollars. Prior to joining Google, Roos accumulated over a decade of experience working on political campaigns around the country ranging from local candidates to a presidential race. With a strong background in grassroots organizing he also has been the campaign manager on six campaigns, ranging from small to multi-million dollar budgets. He has worked on six governor’s races managing four of them and been involved in a number of tough primary battles.
Jason Oxman, Vice President of Industry Affairs, Consumer Electronics AssociationJason Oxman is senior vice president of industry affairs for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)®, the U.S. trade association that represents more than 2,000 consumer electronics companies and owns and produces the world’s largest annual technology tradeshow, the International CES®. At CEA, he oversees a staff of 40 professionals in the communications, technology enthusiast and member relations departments. As a senior executive at CEA, Oxman is CEA’s chief spokesperson and is responsible for developing and overseeing implementation strategies to advance CEA’s portfolio of technology issues. Prior to joining CEA, Oxman was managing director of a multidisciplinary public relations firm serving technology clients. George Atallah, Assistant Executive Director of External Affairs, NFL Players Association George Atallah is the Assistant Executive Director of External Affairs for the NFL Players Association. He was asked to join Executive Director DeMaurice Smith in May of 2009 as Smith’s first official hire. Atallah manages the NFLPA’s media relations, strategic partnerships and fan outreach. Atallah’s extensive professional experience constitutes financial services, non-profit organizations, international affairs, government and politics. Tony Romm, Technology Reporter, Politico Pro Tony Romm is a technology reporter for POLITICO Pro and is the lead author of Morning Tech. Eyder Peralta, Reporter, NPR’s Two-Way Eyder Peralta is associate producer, social media at NPR where he produces, edits and writes for NPR’s different blogs and crowd-sourcing projects. Peralta also serves as community manager and sometimes product manager. Before NPR, he was a newspaperman, writing features for the Houston Chronicle, the Florida Times-Union and The Miami Herald. Jennifer Preston, Reporter, The New York Times Jennifer Preston is a reporter for The New York Times, covering the intersection of social media, politics, government, business and real life. She took on the new beat in January 2011 after working as the newsroom’s first Social Media Editor, helping her fellow journalists use social media for reporting, real-time publishing and building community. Dan Beckmann, Co-founder, IB5k Dan Beckmann is a New Media developer and award-winning journalist with a career spanning over a decade, who founded IB5k where the Obama campaign left off. At the campaign’s Chicago headquarters, as part of the New Media department, in addition to producing supporter-generated and viral initiatives, Dan piloted new video concepts to help voters better understand the candidate’s positions during the critical home stretch of the campaign.

Andrew Foxwell, Marketing and New Media Director, iConstituent Andrew Foxwell is the Marketing and New Media Director for iConstituent, a Washington D.C.-based company that works with over half of the United States Congress, focusing on improved online strategy, outreach, and advocacy to constituents. Prior to working with iConstituent, Foxwell was the Press Secretary and New Media Director to U.S. Congressman Erik Paulsen from Minnesota’s Third Congressional District. In that role, Foxwell helped the Congressman become one of only two freshmen members in the 111th Congress to receive the Golden Mouse Award, an honor bestowed to winners of an annual competition of the best websites on Capitol Hill. Foxwell has also worked on U.S. Presidential campaigns, was a 2010 German Marshall Fund Manfred Worner Defense Fellow, and currently sits on the St. Olaf College Board of Regents. Foxwell spent his youth on a Wisconsin farm and still has no idea how he got into the fast-paced world of technology and politics.

Colin Moffett, Senior Vice President, Digital Communications, Powell Tate | Weber Shandwick Colin has spent over a decade developing leading digital engagement campaigns for brands, nonprofits, corporations and government agencies.
Colin serves as the digital strategy lead for the agency’s work with Bank of America and is also the digital head for the Social Impact practice focusing on corporate social responsibility, philanthropy and nonprofit engagements. He most recently led digital engagement efforts for the iconic Pepsi Refresh Project, which Forbes called one of the top five social media campaigns of all time. Colin manages a multidisciplinary team that overseas digital and social work for clients as diverse as the Fan Freedom Project, BAE Systems, VeriSign, the Chamber of Commerce and USAID.
Dr. Mark Drapeau, Director of Innovative Social Engagement, MicrosoftDr. Mark Drapeau is the Director of Innovative Engagement for the Microsoft Office of Civic Innovation in Washington, DC, where he engages communities leveraging technology and innovation for public good. He is also the editor of Publicyte.com, a Microsoft digital magazine focused on those topics. Prior to joining Microsoft, he was an adjunct professor of media and public affairs at George Washington University, an associate research fellow of science and technology policy at the National Defense University, and a postdoctoral research fellow in neurogenomics at New York University. Alex Budak, Co-founder, StartSomeGood.com Alex Budak is a social entrepreneur and travel writer, and is currently the co-founder of StartSomeGood.com, a platform for empowering social innovators. He recently completed a Masters in Public Policy at Geogretown University, focusing on the intersection of technology and social entrepreneurship. His econometrics-based thesis, “Facebook, Twitter and Barack Obama: New Media and the 2008 Presidential election,” is the first such paper to quantify how new media informed the national elections in 2008. He graduated from UCLA with degrees in Geography and Political Science and was the recipient of the Distinguished Senior Award.

Tom Serres, Founder and CEO, Rally.org Tom Serres is an American entrepreneur and the Founder and CEO of Rally. His primary goal, disrupt and streamline the online fundraising space for change makers alike. In 2011, he launched Rally, an online fundraising platform that turns fans into fundraisers.

Kevin Hauswirth, Social Media Director, Office of the Mayor, City of Chicago As Chicago’s first Director of Social Media, Kevin is charged with developing programs that facilitate a conversation with the public and ensure that city government is transparent, accountable and accessible. Since joining Mayor Emanuel’s team in May 2011, Kevin hosted Chicago’s first live streamed Facebook Town Hall, developed a crowdsourcing tool to capture public feedback on the 2012 budget and launched the first ever City Badge on Foursquare. Before coming to City Hall, he taught graduate and undergraduate courses on social media, led higher education marketing, consulted political campaigns and handled public relations for Fortune 500 brands.
